My children, the older ones that is, came up with a fun activity:  A cake decorating contest!  Here’s what they came up with.

Being a little competitive, they of course wanted this to become a contest.  So if you will kindly cast your vote and leave a comment of your favorite creation you would make us all very happy!  I’ll accept votes until Friday, September, 3.  Then the winner will receive a prize, from me.  :o)  Though I haven’t decided what that will be yet.

Will you play along?

Joyfully,

Mrs. Taffy

  1. I vote for the pizza cake. It looks amazingly real, though I'm not sure I could convince myself to eat it because of that...LOL!

  2. My favorite one is the Dainty cake. Hmmm, I wonder who did that one. Such a mystry. :D The dainty cake almost looks like a mini wedding cake...almost

  3. I vote for the pizza cake.

  4. Um... pepperoni and olives (or mushrooms - I couldn't tell) on cake just doesn't do it for me. Nor do I think I could manage cake with severed limbs scattered around it.

So, my vote is for the Dainty Cake. Just call me "queezy."

My vote goes to the pizza cake.

  6. Ooo! They are all really neat. :) I think the pizza cake is really neat...it looks so real! Are those chocolate covered raising or espresso beans? :) What's the peperoni?
My sis and I did a cake decorating class and I loved it...it's allot of fun! :)

  10. Your chickadees have me pulled in 3different directions. As a military spouse the D-day strikes a cord, the woman loves the dainty cake and that the art of piping is being practiced...very nice. My Ladybug and I have been doing a bit of research and practice with realistic looking cupcakes and cake so the pizza jumps out at me. But, in the end, I must pick the pizza. It is very realistic and well done.

  12. aaak. Passing off three cute cakes for us to decide on? I'd ask my kids - but then I'd have to - um - make a bunch of cakes this week too. Originality goes to Pizza. My Boys's favorite would be the battle cake. My Favorite - that I would order, should you live closer and I become your customer - would be the sweet one. . . . .
But if my boys were looking over my shoulder - our Petra School vote would go to the D Day Cake.

  14. I think I'd have to go with the Pizza cake too. When I first opened the post I thought you were giving me a pizza recipe! What did they use to make their cakes?

  15. They are all so cool! You have very creative children, and I love to see the thought that went into each cake! I had to check out the pizza cake twice it looks so real, but being a girly girl I have to go with the Dainty Cake....my son likes the D-day cake the best so you can give a vote to each for the Speed household! Have a great week!

  16. You are guys are just terrific! Thanks for you all your votes so far!

To clarify...the pizza cake...he used Whoppers, flattened Star Bursts, shredded chocolate and shredded coconut to make it all look so real. I promise, it's VERY sweet!

They all did such a great job making the cakes and cleaning up the mess! lol

  21. The dainty cake was my favorite, probably because that is exactly what my daughters would make! They actually made such a cake out of cardboard and felt food and it looked very similar. They all look delicious and creative though!

  29. Wow!! Those cakes are awesome!! Our compliments to the pastry chefs! And your competition has sparked the competitiveness in my crew as well, we will see where that leads. :-)

We have one vote for the Pizza cake, two votes for the D-day cake, and three of us would love to have a tea party with that Dainty cake so that is where those three votes go!! Just so you know, everyone wants to cast a vote on the baby's behalf, but I thought that would just be sideways, so he didn't get to vote.

  30. I think with me being a girlie girl I will have to go with the dainty cake. They all did a great job.
