We made plans to go, but we thought we were going to have to miss out on the fair completely. Banana and Chocolate have been so sick. They signed up to volunteered at a wonderful exhibit called Little Farm Hands, we were so thankful that they were able to reschedule them. We were able to go the very last day of the fair.
We had to get there by 7:30 a.m. Wow, it was early morning! It’s great fun to be at the fair that early though, it’s cool and there are NO crowds.
Banana Taffy in the chicken barn! Very fitting we thought!
Chocolate Taffy helping kids get their gloves on to plant seeds. This is what Mr. Taffy and Strawberry and Blue-Raspberry was doing as well. In exchange for 3 hours of labor they received free entrance into the fair, a cute t.shirt and something new to add to their resume!
Of course I took the little people through the exhibit too.
Waiting for the exhibit to open…
Little farmer boy.
After we finished there we went straight to the donuts! I don’t think I could have managed the fair alone with three little ones if it had been really busy that early. It was pretty peaceful actually.
We visited a place called the Alphabet Forest-based on a new Children’s book.
They got to work on a few crafts before it got busy.
It was pretty much time to pick everybody up after that. So we trucked it over to the kidway for more donuts and rides for the little peeps.
Watching the action from the Ergo.
We walked around and ate things like: wild rice burgers, crisscross fries, cheese curds, some big fried thing buried in powdered sugar, and snow cones. We might have eaten more but Chocolate and Banana still don’t have much of an appetite. Sad!
Strawberry took this picture of us in a horticultural exhibit.
These guys were pooped out! We had to do one more thing before we left though, it’s a Taffy Tradition-The Big Slide!
Just look how many people were there when we left.
It was an exhausting and wonderful day, a day we thought we weren’t going to be able to have this year.
